The Old Way Transform My Institution

Where you are today

Holding you back

  1. Remarks nobody can place

A note saying “explain more” sits in the margin, and the student cannot tell which paragraph it means or what to change.

    Pain point

  2. The same correction, again and again

A teacher writes the same remark on forty scripts, and the time goes on repetition rather than on comment that helps.

    Pain point

  3. Evaluators marking to different standards

Sections of one course are marked by different teachers, and the same answer earns a different mark in each.

    Pain point

  4. No record when a mark is questioned

The marked script has gone back to the student, so a disputed internal mark has nothing to show how it was reached.

    Pain point

  • 2+Places feedback and marks are kept
  • DozensTimes one remark is rewritten
  • 0Copies kept once the script goes back

Your institution, transformed

Everything connected

  1. Comments pinned to the line

Highlights and comments sit on the exact sentence, figure or step, grouped by the kind of problem.

    Solved

  2. Common remarks inserted, not retyped

A personal comment bank puts frequent feedback in with a click, and each teacher can still add their own words.

    Solved

  3. One rubric for every evaluator

Criteria, levels and descriptors are shared across sections, so a mark means the same in each.

    Solved

  4. Feedback kept with the mark

Annotations, rubric scores and the final mark stay on the student’s record, with every mark change logged.

    Solved

  • 1Record for submission, feedback and mark
  • 1Rubric shared by every evaluator
  • 0Marks retyped into the grade book

Feedback placed exactly where the problem is

A general remark in the margin does not teach a student what to fix. Comments anchored to the passage show which phrase, calculation or step prompted them, and why.

  • Highlights in colours tied to feedback types, such as language, content, structure or accuracy
  • Comments anchored to a word, a sentence or a region of a page or image
  • Short voice notes where something is easier to explain aloud

Mark a full section without retyping the same remark

Teachers with large classes write the same feedback many times over. A comment bank and saved sets turn that repetition into a click, and the next script opens without leaving the marking screen.

  • A personal comment bank sorted by type, inserted with a click or a shortcut
  • Saved sets of comments applied to other submissions with the same issue
  • Next, previous and flagged submissions without leaving the marking screen

Marks you can explain, criterion by criterion

When a student questions an internal mark, the answer should be traceable: this criterion, this level, these comments. Rubric scoring with a history of changes takes the guesswork out of every evaluation.

  • Rubrics attached to assignments, with weighted criteria and a descriptor for each level
  • Comments linked to rubric criteria, so students see what each part of the score rests on
  • Moderation, where evaluators score the same sample before marking begins

Frequently asked questions

Get answers to common questions about assignment annotation

What is assignment annotation in iVake?

It is where teachers read submitted work, comment on it in place and score it against a rubric. The submission, the comments and the mark are kept on the student’s record, so feedback is not lost when the work is returned.

How does it connect with the rest of iVake?

Assignments are set against the same classes and subjects as the timetable and grade book. Released marks move into the grade book, which locks on its date and keeps its history, and students and parents see the returned feedback in the app.

Which kinds of submission can be annotated?

Typed documents, PDFs and photographs of handwritten pages. If your courses rely on other formats, such as spreadsheets or code, tell us and we will confirm how they are handled before you commit.

Can we set our own rubrics and feedback categories?

Yes. Rubrics, criteria, weights, level descriptors and comment categories are settings your academic team controls, per programme or subject, not custom code.

How does it help with disputed internal marks and revaluation?

Each score is tied to the rubric level chosen and the comments behind it, and every change to a mark is recorded with who made it, when and the previous value. A head of department can review the full history before deciding.

Can rubric marks feed course outcome attainment for NBA?

Rubric criteria can be mapped to course outcomes, so marks entered here flow into CO and PO attainment computed from the live grade book, rather than being typed again for the accreditation file.

Does it work with Moodle or Google Classroom?

iVake connects with Moodle and Google Classroom. If your teachers set and collect work there, marks can come across into the grade book; tell us how your courses run and we will confirm the flow.

Is it included, and what support do we get?

Every ERP module is included at every price band, and extra staff logins are never charged. Onboarding includes role-by-role training for teachers, and support tickets are never charged extra.
