Frequently asked questions
Common questions from IT administrators evaluating education management software.
What do we need to run iVake?
Nothing on your own servers. iVake is hosted in your region and used from a web browser, with mobile apps for parents, students and teaching staff. The teacher app works offline and syncs when the connection returns.
Can we host iVake on our own servers?
iVake is delivered as a hosted service in your region. Where a group requires it, a dedicated database or a private deployment can be quoted, so ask during evaluation what that would involve for you.
How does single sign-on work?
Staff sign in through Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID or a SAML identity provider. Accounts are created and closed from your directory, so a leaver loses access as soon as they are removed there, not whenever someone remembers.
How do we migrate from our current system?
Students, staff, past results, fee ledgers, attendance history and enquiries are imported from database exports, spreadsheets or older software. A trial import runs into a staging copy first, counts are reconciled line by line, and you sign off before go-live.
How are updates and maintenance handled?
Version upgrades are applied for you at no extra charge. Planned maintenance comes with release notes and advance notice, and availability and errors are monitored with alerting.
What can the API do?
Your website, app, dialer and reporting tool can read and write leads, applications, students, fees, attendance and results through documented REST endpoints. Webhooks fire on state change, keys are scoped per endpoint with rate limits, and a sandbox is available before anything touches live data.
Can we run our own penetration test?
Ask for the current testing position and scope during evaluation and we will tell you what has been done and when. If your institution wants to run its own test, we will arrange it against a staging environment.
