Frequently asked questions
Get answers to common questions about the mobile app
Do we need our own developers to build or maintain the apps?
No. The apps are ready to use and are updated with the platform, and version upgrades are never charged. Your team decides which roles see which modules through the same settings as the web system. If you want the app published under your institution’s own name and logo, ask us.
How does the app handle parents with more than one child?
One parent login covers every child in the family, including children in different classes or on different campuses of the same institution. Each alert names the child it is about.
What works offline, and how does it sync?
The teacher app works offline: attendance is marked in the room and synced when the connection returns, so the register reflects the class rather than a memory of it. Paying fees and following the bus need a connection.
Can we control what each role sees in the app?
Yes. The apps follow the same access rules as the web system, set by campus, department, programme and role. A parent sees only their own children, a class teacher sees their own sections, and a hostel warden sees residents, not marks.
How are urgent notices handled compared with routine updates?
Routine updates such as results and fee reminders go by app notification and the channel each family reads. An urgent notice such as an early closure can go on every channel at once, the app, WhatsApp, SMS and email, with delivery shown against each parent on file.
Is the app priced separately?
No. Mobile apps for parents, students and teaching staff are included at every price band, and parent and student app access is never charged extra. Campus operations are priced per student, per month.
Can parents see where the school bus is?
Yes. Parents see the live position and expected arrival for their own child’s route only, and a boarding scan tells them the child is on the bus. A child who did not board is flagged rather than discovered at the gate.
How is children’s data in the app protected?
Every connection, including the apps, uses TLS, access is scoped by role, and every read and change is logged. iVake does no advertising, behavioural profiling or ad-tech tracking of students; for children, the DPDP Act rules out behavioural tracking and targeted advertising.
