Can we take attendance without internet connectivity?
Yes. The iVake teacher app works offline and syncs when the connection is back, so attendance is marked in the classroom even where the network is unreliable.
How do we handle students who arrive late?
Late arrivals are recorded as late, not as absent, with the time they were marked. Your institution decides how a late mark counts towards attendance, and the parent can be told the same day.
Can parents send a reason for an absence?
Yes. The absence message invites a reply, and parents can submit the reason from the parent app. It is kept against the student’s record with the day it refers to.
What happens if a teacher makes an attendance error?
The mark is corrected in the register, and the correction is written to the audit trail with who made it, when, and what the value was before.
How do we record field trips, sports or on-duty days?
Attendance can be recorded per activity as well as per period, and on-duty days are recorded as what they are. Your institution decides whether duty leave, medical leave and on-duty days count towards attendance.
Can we import attendance from biometric systems?
Yes. Punches from biometric devices and RFID cards are read into the same attendance record as the teacher app, so there is one register rather than two to reconcile. Tell us the make and model and we will confirm how yours connects.
How do we generate attendance reports for inspections or government returns?
Attendance is recorded per subject and per activity with its date, so the figures for a return, an inspection or an accreditation criterion are read from the register and exported, rather than counted from paper.
What if a substitute teacher takes the class?
Substitutions are arranged against the same timetable, so the period appears in the substitute’s app to mark. The register records who marked it.
