The Old Way Transform My Institution

Where you are today

Holding you back

  1. Notebooks piled on the desk

Work arrives on paper, some of it undated and some of it missing, and nobody can show when a student handed it in.

    Pain point

  2. Different markers, different standards

Several teachers mark the same assignment in their own way, and students ask why their section scored lower.

    Pain point

  3. Marks copied twice

Scores go into a register, then a spreadsheet, then the internal assessment sheet, picking up errors on the way.

    Pain point

  4. Lost in a chat group

A student says the work was sent on the class group, the teacher cannot find it, and there is no record to settle it.

    Pain point

  • 3+Places marks are written down
  • 2+Times the same score is copied
  • DaysSpent chasing missing work

Your institution, transformed

Everything connected

  1. Submitted online, with a time

Students upload their work, and each submission is stamped with the date and time it arrived.

    Solved

  2. One rubric for every marker

Criteria and marks are set once, so every teacher marking a section scores against the same scale.

    Solved

  3. Marks entered once

Assignment marks go into weighted internal assessment in the grade book, which locks on its date.

    Solved

  4. Missing work seen early

Teachers see who has not submitted before the due date, and parents see what is due in the app.

    Solved

  • 1Place every submission is kept
  • 0Marks copied by hand
  • 1List of what is due, per student

Give teachers back the hours spent on paperwork

Setting, collecting and chasing assignments takes time that should go on teaching. Doing it online removes the filing, the chasing and the second copy of every mark.

  • Set an assignment once and give it to several sections, changing only the dates
  • Every submission is time-stamped on arrival, which settles “but I did submit it”
  • Late work is labelled late by the rule you set for that assignment

The same standard, whoever does the marking

When several teachers mark the same assignment, each carries a slightly different scale in their head. A shared rubric, with the subject teacher checking before marks are released, keeps the result fair and easy to explain.

  • Rubric criteria with marks and descriptions, so every marker uses the same scale
  • Comments written against the student’s submission, not sent in a separate message
  • Marks entered by a co-teacher are reviewed by the subject teacher before release

Keep students on track and parents in the picture

Students hand in more work on time when they can see what is due, when it is due and how it will be marked. Parents see the same list, so they can help without phoning the teacher.

  • Students see every assignment, due date, rubric and submission status in one list
  • Reminders go out before the due date to students who have not yet submitted
  • Parents see homework, due dates and released marks in the parent app

Frequently asked questions

Get answers to common questions about assignment management

Which files will iVake accept from students?

Common document, presentation, spreadsheet and image files can be submitted, and a teacher can limit the types allowed for an assignment. Work done on paper can be photographed and uploaded from a phone.

What happens when work comes in after the due date?

The teacher sets the rule when creating the assignment: a grace period, a deduction, or a last date after which nothing is accepted. Students see the rule before they submit, and late work is labelled late automatically.

Is a second attempt at a submission allowed?

Yes, where the teacher allows it. Each version is kept, and the version to be marked is clearly identified.

How does marking work for group projects?

A group can be given one mark for everyone, or individual marks within the group, so a project several students worked on is still recorded against each of them.

What do parents see of the work that is set?

Yes. Parents see homework, due dates, submission status and released marks in the parent app, with one login for every child in the family.

Do teachers have to write the same assignments again every year?

No. An assignment can be copied to another section or to the next academic year and edited, rather than written again from scratch.

Is there a plagiarism check?

Similarity checking is offered as a separate AI tool, and its result sits with the submission for the teacher to read before marking. The teacher, not the tool, decides what the result means.

Can another teacher help with marking?

Yes. A co-teacher or assistant can be given submissions to mark, and the subject teacher reviews those marks before they are released to students and parents.

Does it work with Moodle or Google Classroom?

iVake connects to Moodle, Google Classroom and Teams & Meet, so institutions already teaching there can carry on. Tell us how you use them and we will confirm how marks reach the grade book.
