iVake vs Fedena: two products that publish their prices

Almost nobody in this market will tell you what their software costs before a demo. These two will. That makes the decision unusually clean: read both price pages, then work out which list of features matches what your institution is actually asked for.

Checked against vendor websites on .

iVake publishes this comparison. Everything said about Fedena comes from Fedena's own public pages on the date shown. If a page has changed since, or we have read it wrongly, write to hello@ivake.com and we will correct it.

A trustee asks two questions in the first meeting: what does it cost, and does it do the things we are asked for by the board, the university and the government. Fedena and iVake both answer the first question on a public page. The second question is where they separate.

Fedena calls itself “All-In-One College and School Management Software” on its homepage, and the company behind it, Foradian Technologies, is in Bengaluru (fedena.com, checked 18 September 2026). Its published module list runs to 61 items and covers the day-to-day properly: student admission, enquiry and registration, attendance, examination, gradebook, timetable, courses and batches, advance and instant fees, placement and alumni as addons, plus Tally, payment gateway and SMS integrations.

The short versionFedena publishes flat annual plans in rupees with unlimited users and a 14-day trial with no card. iVake publishes a per-student rate, and adds the compliance work — NAAC and NBA evidence, AISHE/AICTE returns, APAAR/ABC, DigiLocker — that does not appear on Fedena's module list. For a large roll, Fedena's flat price is lower. Do the arithmetic before you decide.

What the two price pages say

Fedena's pricing page lists Standard at ₹50,000, Premium at ₹75,000 and Ultimate at ₹1,00,000, each plus GST and billed yearly, with an Enterprise plan on request that adds the product source code. All plans are shown with unlimited users, automatic updates and free cloud hosting. The trial is 14 days with no credit card details required (fedena.com/pricing-and-plans and fedena.com/demo, checked 18 September 2026).

iVake's page lists ₹8 per student per month up to 200 students, ₹7 from 201 to 10,000 and ₹5 above that, GST 18% extra, one-time onboarding ₹10,000 covering migration and role-by-role training, 5% off quarterly and 15% off yearly. Staff logins, the parent and student app, reports, upgrades and support tickets are never charged extra. The trial is 30 days with no card.

Now the arithmetic, which is the honest part. At iVake's ₹7 band, ₹50,000 a year is roughly what a 600-student institution would pay. Below that roll, the per-student rate is lower. Above it, Fedena's flat plan is lower, and it stays lower as you grow. What each Fedena plan includes, and which plan carries the placement and alumni addons, is not stated on their pricing page (checked 18 September 2026), so ask them before putting the two numbers side by side. Third-party listings also carry different figures — Capterra India shows a $1,299 annual starting price and SourceForge shows $699 — which is another reason to treat the vendor's own page as the only one that counts.

When Fedena is the better choice

Choose Fedena if a published annual price and a 14-day trial with no card are what settle it for your committee, and your roll is large enough that a flat plan beats a per-student one. Unlimited users on every plan means a big teaching staff costs nothing extra, and free cloud hosting and automatic updates are stated on the same page (fedena.com/pricing-and-plans, checked 18 September 2026). If you want the product source code, their Enterprise plan offers it and iVake does not — iVake is not open source and says so. And if your institution does not have to produce NAAC or NBA evidence, does not file AISHE or university returns, and has no interest in AI features, a good part of what iVake charges for is work you will never use.

When iVake fits better, and why

The clearest reason is compliance. None of NAAC, NBA, NIRF or the word accreditation appears anywhere on Fedena's full module list (checked 18 September 2026), and APAAR/ABC, UDISE+ and DigiLocker were not found on their site either. For a college facing an assessment cycle, or a school being asked for APAAR IDs, that is not a small gap — it is the difference between a report you generate and a report three people build by hand in a spreadsheet.

The second is that admissions and the rest of the year are one student file in iVake, not a core module plus an enquiry addon. The counsellor's notes and the documents checked through DigiLocker stay attached to the same record through attendance, the fee ledger, the exam result, the TC and the alumni directory.

The third is the messaging and money plumbing an Indian office actually uses: named gateways for UPI, card and net banking, DLT-registered SMS, WhatsApp, and a day book that exports to Tally or Zoho Books. Fedena names Tally and offers payment gateways, but names none of them on its fees page (fedena.com/feature-tour/school-fees-management-system, checked 18 September 2026).

What we cannot tell you

Fedena's homepage claims 40,000+ schools and colleges, 200+ countries and 20+ languages, and a separate page says 20 million users over ten years. Those are Fedena's claims, not ours, and no language is named. We could not open a G2 profile for Fedena — the page returned an error on 18 September 2026 — so we quote no G2 rating for them. And iVake has no third-party ratings at all yet, which is exactly the sort of thing a trustee is right to weigh.

Share your fee structure and programmes before the call, or sample data with student names removed. We set them up, so you see your own institution on screen rather than a demo account.

  • 45 minutes, your data. Not a generic tour of features.
  • Migration mapped on the call. We show exactly where your current records land.
  • A written rollout plan within two working days, with phases, owners and dates.
  • No pressure to switch everything at once. Most schools and colleges start with one department or one intake.
